Toning It Down

Photobucket

I think it might be difficult for me to take my fabulous ideas like the above image and then tone it down so that you can live with it not just now but maybe even 5 years from now.

I love love love the eccentricity of the above image but to be honest I am not sure how to make that work in my ultra modern house.

This image from Samantha from Black Velvet Chair (here) made me think that perhaps it might be possible. I have added a couple more that kind of have the same feel, relaxed formality??? If that even exists.

Love it!

I could never get away with it though as I am sooo clumsy and always end up bumping the walls with the dust/swish/mop thinggy :(

Funny because as I scrolled down I was going to suggest that I think you can pull off at least the symmetrical square hanging of black frames to the left in the first picture. And there it was further down. Just choose the right kind of frames and the right colour (black) and do it very organised and not whimsical and I think it will work. I wrote a post not to long ago on how to hang three frames straight in a vertical line if you want to check it out.
Good luck!
