Something Light

A rather good friend of mine recently put himself on the line in the name of charity. The entire Engineering team donated money to a very special cause in the highest donation received the ability to do whatever they want with him for the day.

Another rather creative engineer won the rights of said individual and already the games have started. I thought I would show you some pictures someone took of him at the train station on the way into work .... I have the highest amount of respect for what this individual did - Raising on $1,000 between a very small team but I will say .... I would not put myself into his shoes .... the winning engineer has a rather devious mind and im sure that I will be laughing all morning long.

A Slight Issue

So maybe im pedantic but my laundry isnt right. the top isnt how I wanted it and I think im going to request they rip it out and fix it ... oh dear.

See I want a lovely square form top and they have given me a little flat top which is fine but not what I requested or wanted ..... Is it wrong to want to change it after its been put in. It was specified that what I wanted was square form but .... I still feel bad.

20,000 Visitors!

I sat there this morning looking at that and thought to myself .... are you for real? 20,000 visits to my little site? WOW. Im a mix between chuffed and overwhelmed that my life is interesting.

Obviously its all about the house, and I am amazed with just how far along the house has come. I really do love my house, I love how well it flows, I love how it just keeps getting more and more beautiful and I love how excited I am at the idea of living there.

So I thought I would give you a little bit of a timeline of the house and how amazing it is that its grown up so fast .... awww

Christmas Has Come Early

For our family last Sunday was Christmas. Now its odd but for many fly in fly out families Christmas can be anywhere from November to January. Getting everyone home at once is hard and on Sunday 90% of ours was home so Sunday we had Christmas. This included getting up in the morning putting on Christmas music and handing out presents ... Its kind of surreal doing this while the rest of Perth just cruise along as per normal but you do get used to it after 10 or so years.

So I received my presents from darling hubby and there were two, I received a lovely little broach (I collect broaches and love adding them to outfits) and my second present was so exciting it was just plain cool - obviously house related and the box was so big I couldn't lift it myself. There is something really exciting about opening a box bigger than you but anyways I digress, I just cant wait to show you my present .... well here it is

.... A Giant Clock  .... Look at the dining chair, its GIANT GIANT. Brilliant I cant get over how much I love my clock!

Now my gift to hubby wasnt quite so exciting but one of the more practical things I have seen in a long while .... I sort of portable workshop for the basics, drill, extension cord, screws etc all folds into one neat transportable box .... hell it even has wheels, so yes, boring but practical. My parents on the other hand spoilt him with a new toy, an motorised sail boat he would not stop playing with all day ....

House Updates - Moving Ahead at Light Speed

I don't know if its because my house is finally looking like a house but last night a had a dream .... well a nightmare actually where hubby tried for 2 weeks solid to put together some ikea flat pack shelves I want in the media room with no success and for some reason not having shelves in the media room was my idea of hell. Why am I so worried about this ... no idea but its pretty funny that I'm already having house nightmares with still three months to go before it is actually ours again!

But as the title says today I'm going to show you some updated pictures of the house and boy does it look good. The plaster work is like stone, so hard and so smooth I almost cry every time I run my hands along it.

So without further ado .... my house!

Liebster Blog Awards

Recently I was awarded the Liebster Award from KL at eternalicons (here) which i was very very flattered with - thankyou so much KL, your advice during my build has been invaluable.

How lovely to be thought of when something like this comes up. Especially since most of the time I spend babbling to all of you about anything that seems to pop into my head.

Now because I am new at all this award stuff I have chosen to copy the format of a very good bloggy friend of mine MrsB. he he he I know stealing but I really had no idea on how to write this post.... so thanks B.

Liebster is a German word meaning "dearest" and the award is given to bloggers with fewer than 200 followers.

The award has a few stipulations:

1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it you.
2. Reveal your five blogger picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
4. Hope that people you have sent the award to forward it on to their favourite bloggers.

Here are my five blogs that I have chosen to nominate:

Ange from A Cream Cottage (here)
Annette from From Avenue to Boulevard (here)
Bel from The house that Bel Build (here)
Danma from All About the Build (here)
Samantha from Black Velvet Chair (here)

Writing this I have just realised I don't actually "follow" these blogs I just click every morning onto my favorite and check up however I am going to rectify this today. "following" seems to be much easier - I just need to get my act together .... goodness me!

Anyways my first award and obviously I'm pretty damn proud ... Thank you to everyone I will now "follow" for entertaining me first thing in the morning and thank you for everyone who "follows" me for putting up with my babbling.

Samantha and Bel - I couldnt leave comments on your blogs but im hoping you see this ....

Organic Christmas Decor

The other day my mother and I were arguing over whether the new "in" christmas decorations is Christmas'y enough. You know the ones im talking about, natural fabrics and colours, lots of rough and rustic textures and a very 'home made' theme to them. Obviously I like bright colours, lots of shiny bling and of course lots of lots of gold. My argument was that you would have to redo your whole christmas theme in this instead of adding to what you already have. Mum was of the impression it was possible to do this theme convincingly withough buying ALL new stuff.

Of course, being my mother she proved me wrong and her right. Today is her anual christmas lunch and I thought I would share with you some pictures of her christmas table. Obviously its fabulous but to be honest, its natural and quite rustic looking without making it feel any less Christmas'y.

Hope you all like the sneak peak!
