All About The Bricks

Im sorry guys but this week its all about the bricks... the house is coming along leaps and bounds and I thought you might be interested in all the windows. I am surprised at just how many windows I have. I also did a bit of very basic photo shopping to give myself a bit of a boost on just where the water will be in regards to my 6 meters of fixed glass.

How lovely - How exciting - How am I going to get through the next 9 months!

Love This!

Well last week I showed you a few new items I loved from Freedom but one of them really stood out for me.

I want this buffet - like really want this buffet!

Wouldnt it look amazing right here next to my piano - I cant think of a better place to hold all my sheet music!

I would put this print I brought from Ikea on top of it - and cover it in interesting items with lovely splashes of green and some matching cushions on the sofa to tie it all together.

Did I mention I wanted the buffet?

Lets Get Vertical

After a good three months of agonising over the ground my house has finally started to go up ... and by go up I mean walls. How lovely to finally see how its going to look. It looks narrow - we always knew that but to actually see it gives you breath this funny little hitch where you think - wow its narrow.

Its too soon to actually get a good feeling on just how narrow its going to feel inside but at the moment I'm still confident we can pull it off....

Are They Listening

For the past year I have preached constantly about something a little bit different in regards to furniture options in WA. Well it seems that either I am ahead of the game in style stakes (Which I doubt) or that they are listening.

These are the latest pieces from Freedom and while I know that they wont be to every ones taste I have to say - I like the idea that their furniture seems to have a bit more personality to it that ever before.

The lovely leather lounge I can imagine being from a university professors library, the lovely buffet from an apartment in Manhattan.... hello this is lovely. Bring it on Freedom... not I just have to convince hubby that we can buy it now and find somewhere to store it for 10 months!

Getting My Feet Back

Today is better, admittedly last night we had practically no sleep because of a dripping down pipe echoing throughout our room rather loudly .... my husband even rolled over at 2 in the morning and whispered "Do you think this is what they mean by water torture" but still .... I feel like I'm back on an even keel!

So rest easy everyone - I didn't fall over the edge, luckily, I just teetered there throughout the day.

Anyways - perusing the latest Vogue Living Mag on the train last night I came across this picture which seemed very emotive - this picture almost made me cry.

Overwhelmed

I should warn you up front this is one of those mellow dramatic posts that I will probably shake my head at days later but right now .... this is how I'm feeling.

Today I have reached my limit- everyone has one. That point where there is so much angst and emotion bottled up you feel like your going to explode. So you hide, you dodge, you avoid anything that might just tip you over the edge. Because your on the edge, you have reached that point where anything, even something tiny, might push you to the point where you just lose it.

So picture me standing on the edge of a cliff, one leg hanging out the side me waving my arms wildly trying to get back into flat ground.

So I'm dodging, avoiding and trying very hard to find my equilibrium ... bring on the island of calm and peace!

Weird and Wonderful

Matt Blatt have just brought out a new range of weird and wonderful items. What do you think ... weird or wonderful?

Personally this one has a nightmarish quality about it .... Weird

I really like the shape of this but how soon would before the stripes got "tired" - boarderline

This one I love - I can see this hanging from the roof in a little boys nursery - Wonderful
Look what we have here - remind you of anything I recently brought? - Wonderful

God knows what you would do with this - definitely Weird

This has a lovely intellectual quality to it - I want it on my library shelves - Wonderful

This one leaves me a bit lost - no idea what it is or what you would do with it - Weird

Brilliant DIY Idea

You know when every so often you come across something that is truly just brilliant. Well I found another one - its all about Antique Books and using them as wallpaper - this is truly beautiful - I have this lovely little wall where my library ends which I would love to see covered in this.... totally completely brilliant.

I want it now!

To Paint or Not To Paint... That is the Question

One of my online friends is agonising over flooring at the moment. See like me she wants something a little bit different when it comes to her house. She wants white wooden floors (Hey don't judge, I want to pour motor oil all over mine and make them nearly black!). The thing is and I will admit I am painfully aware of this also - its so final.

To paint a floor, you are covering up the wood and that's lovely, I personally love the look of nice painted floor boards... however you have to ask yourself, will you still feel the same 5 or 6 years from now and if not - how much will you curse yourself as you slowly sand your way across the living area - moaning about how on earth you could cover up the beautiful wood and vowing never to touch a tin of paint again....

So ... to paint or not to paint, its certainly warmer than tiles and it gives this lovely "aged" feel to a building, I just don't know if i would love them and myself 5 years down the track.... my god these decisions are hard!
