A Change In Priorities

I don't know about you but when I was young bathrooms were bare utilitarian affairs with ensuites being tiny and practical and a luxury in themselves. Now days designer ensuites are expected ... What you don't have a double sink in the ensuite ... how on earth do you both brush your teeth at the same time?

So as I was saying before I got carried away with my own sarcasm ... bathrooms are cool, baths are cool, people actually take the time now to relax in the bathroom ... its supposed to be our private oasis of calm.

Personally I like where this particular trend is going. I cant believe my poor parents and grand parents missed out on the whole luxury retreat idea.... however even my wonderful bathroom is nothing compare to these ones.

I agree!! bathrooms should be all about luxury, I love clear windows, none of that frosted glass for me.....and while we're at it, luxury should be emphasised in all rooms of the house, including laundries since us women spend SO much of our time there!!!and people are spending so much more time at home these days, I say, why not??

I know what you mean Miss Vintage. I grew up in a house, with 2 other siblings, and our parents of course and only had one bathroom and toilet to share. Eeeeek! My man and I are however building a house and having 3 bathrooms and 2 powder rooms... A bit excessive probably, but ... priorities have changed :)

Look forward to seeing more of your bathroom inspirations.

Hey Helen - totally agree with the frosted glass. Cant stand it but I think its a shire regulation ... I have to have frosted glass so im going to hide it behind thick wooden shutters .... oh well. Lucky im going for dark and mysterious.... as for the laundry, I couldnt agree more, I specifically made sure I could fit 3 bottles of softner in a row in my overhead cupboards....

As for the one toilet to share B ... isnt it funny that this is just unimaginable now?

Thanks for commenting on my blog :)

Have you finalised your laundry design yet? Would love to see what you are doing there :)

Re: one toilet between five of us

The funniest thing is that noone ever complained. We didn't have a choice and we just learnt to put up with it I think.

When we were designing our bathroom vanities, we went on how a 1m vanity would be too small for the main bathroom upstairs. But then I snapped out of it :)

sounds good to me, oh, and by the way....I grew up with only one toilet too......but it was outside on the far end of the block!!! lol, can you believe it? I think that's why I trained my bladder so I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night in the dark night...not to mention the winters....brrrrrrrr!!!
