American Christmas

I dont know about you but every single Christmas I am fixated by the American Shopping websites who put together these mindblowingly good christmas decoration designs.

These christmas trees and room decorations make the myer trees look like they were decorated by 2 year olds. Why oh why cant we have amazing looking homes like this ????

Well I suppose we can but it just seems unreachable even for me. These beautiful pictures come from a website called "Front Gate" and are in the running for my favorite decoration of all time.

A Box Arrived

I don't know about you but receiving a box in the post is one of those exciting things that just doesn't grow old.

This box was actually from us .... we posted it from Dubai when we realised the suitcases might be slightly heavier than we thought. So last night we pulled the box apart laughing at hubby's Leiderhosen and playing with all the new display pieces we brought while overseas.

My favorites are the two helmets.... now the Roman one is cool but hubby seems to be quite partial to the Tower of London one we brought. Either way these are so so so cool for the new house. The only really sad thing is we are going to have to pack them away for another 6 months.....

Oh yes, and of course boys like to play with their toys and my dad could not wait to try them on!

A Slight Issue

Last night was my first really good look at the house since we have been back. Obviously mostly everything is fabulous but there is one thing that just doesn't look right.

Its my curved wall. As most of you know we had to change the wall from these lovely textured bricks to plain render.

The plans were all done when based on the wall being the different bricks and now looking at it built what would have looked fine with bricks is going to look slightly odd without???

See there is now a hole (Square). I don't really know how to describe it properly but have a look at the pictures. To me this just looks odd.

A Sneak Peak

Firstly to all those wonderful people who have commented on my posts .... I am dying to respond but blogger wont let me at the moment so I'm sorry and thank you so much for welcoming me back so prettily.

Now - as most of you are aware I am currently living with my parents while building. What you may not know is that they moved into their new house just over a year ago. This is mum and dads dream home and although it took two and a half years plus a whole lot of pain its finally coming together. Obviously their style is very different to mine but I thought you might like to look at the amazing new lights they have just put up in their dining room.

Almost industrial but with a bit of an Indian influence, they are the most amazing green colour I just cant say enough good things about them. What do you think ladies .... are you as full of admiration as I am for mums great choice?????

Light Love

I have found a new light to love. I actually saw it in the house I mentioned before my holiday featured on the TV series True Blood.

What would I give for this light .... the very last of my Belgian Chocolate. Why oh why don't you ship to Australia. This is so very unfair!

Oh well, nothing I can do about it now except drool all over my keyboard!

Step Right Up ....

I cant believe just how quickly Christmas has snuck up on us this year ... it seems like yesterday we were having all of those drama's with the earth works and now its Christmas.

Well today is not a house related post ... is about dressing up. I am at heart a child and as such a love any opportunity to dress up. What is there not to love about putting on a costume and acting silly just because. So our work has the most amazing christmas parties ever. They are very over the top and EVERYONE who goes dresses up. Last year the theme was arabian nights and it was awesome. Situated on the swan river foreshore they had tents, arabian carpets on the grass, rose water and pomegranite cocktails, camels, snake charmers, belly dancers, tarrot card reader, oyster shuckers and best of all a chocolate fountain as big as me! Over the top .... yes. One of the reasons people put on the pro's and con's list when thinking of moving on .... yes!

So this years theme is Circus ... I was hoping for Oktoberfest because I already have the costume but I can work with Circus.

I found some pretty cool costumes and anyones thoughts on these would be much appreciated .....

Hubby has also decided on his costume this year and he is doing Scary Clown .... hmmm so not attractive but he has even started scaring me with pictures and the idea of shaving his head .... YAY .... so glad he is home this year ... who wouldnt want their husband shaving his head and smearing blood all over his face.

Im Back!

So I'm back in Perth and I have to say when the plane touched down I nearly cried with relief. Dont get me wrong the holiday was amazing but I am glad to be home and although I have been absent for the past 3 days I have been thinking of you all.... See we got home 4am on Tuesday morning, slept for 3 hours then off to drop poor hubby at the airport ... he was flying out to work that night from Darwin.

So that night after desperately trying to get to sleep for hours I had just drifted off when I get a call. He wasn't allowed on the chopper because I happened to have his passport .... oh dear. Another day of desperately trying to get said passport from Perth to Darwin and things are finally looking up. He flew out this morning, I have finally slept and six weeks worth of washing is done.

On top of that I went and visited the house and wow, things are not moving as quickly as I had hoped but the way it looks more than makes up for it. I was worried about the colours I had chosen over a year ago but seeing them up there now and they look great ... I am really happy with my choices. What do you think?
