Day One - Part Two

Well I'm afraid I have some bad news. Item one on my bucket list is a fail ... maybe I was too optimistic but there was no way in hell I could get my bag under 20 kg's.

First try was actually 25.5 kg's and I have to admit I was nearly heartbroken ... how on earth was I supposed to lose 5kg's from what I considered an already sparse bag ....

However after a lot of tears (well maybe not tears but the start of a tantrum perhaps) and arguing with myself over just what I could and could not live without I got pretty damn close ... 21.4 kg's.

So while I certainly didn't achieve my goal exactly, this is the lowest I have ever had my luggage down so I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. My moderately light bag is packed, my carry on is organised and my husband is still alive ... Bring on the holiday baby because I'm ready!

Day One - Any Sense of Organisation ... Gone

There is a reason wives kick husbands out of the building days before the holiday!

You saw my lovely organised piles just waiting patiently to be packed into suitcases???? Well look what happens just hours after hubby decides to pack his own bag..... All I can say is .... please let me get to the airport without running him over with something large... like a truck!

More Progress and Bucket Lists

Today was supposed to be my finalised bucket list ... however last night hubby dragged me around to the house ... and I have more progress, I have windows and they have started building up the wall between the garage to hide the little roof. Its so exciting to actually see things getting done I cant wait to come back from holidays to hopefully a downstairs roof!

Ok now onto other pleasant things ... Bucket Lists. So I am going to keep you updated with what is happening on my holiday with a daily diary entry and I am going to try and fulfill all the items on my bucket list.

I have mentioned a few in previous posts but this is my final list ... I think.

1) Make sure I'm under the 20 kg luggage limit
2) Meet the Mona Lisa
3) Find a quiet moment in Versailles
4) Become breathless over the past
5) Find the best chocolate shop in Europe
6) Drink copious amounts of coffee
7) Eat Ice cream till I'm sick
8) Do something truly excessive
9) Scoff pizza with the locals
10) Look glamorous in Paris
11) Get to the top of the Eiffel Tower (I'm deathly afraid of heights)
12) Do something dark or scary
13) Ski Dubai
14) Live life a little bit wild
15) Survive Oktoberfest!

So - that is my list. I think its a fairly good list, I'm surprised at just how many eating things there are on it .... ok well maybe not surprised. So ladies and the odd gentleman, off I go..... while I'm away I wish you all luck with your builds, please cross your fingers for my poor little build left alone while its parents go off to see the world he he he.

Getting Excited

So last night after all the air-con stress, work crazy and a well timed fire drill 20 floors up, I decided I just HAD to get into the holiday spirit.

After a medicinal glass of wine I started getting organised ... and packing. I don't know about you but until I start actually preparing for a holiday my head doesn't getting into ... excited mode.

Obviously one of my bucket list items was to keep my suitcase under 20kg's. Easy you say however the difficulty was that the temperatures range from 5 degrees in Warsaw up to 45 degrees in Dubai.... how on earth do you pack for that.

So after hours of agonising I put it all on the bed and then took out over half of it. Dear god ... I am going to be living with a teeny tiny amount of clothes for the next six weeks .... but its done and I think done quite well, most of the colours match, most of it can be worn with more than one other item in my wardrobe and most of it is very very comfortable.

I also do these cute little conversion charts so I can take a quick peek instead of trying to work out exchange rates in my head ... I just didnt realise how many I needed until I had to cut all the little buggers out, my thumb is not happy with me right now.

But Yay! I am finally getting excited about my holiday.... Bring on Friday!

New Love

I have a new love ... I'm not sure if I can spell it but I love terrariums .... Ha I think I may have got the spelling right.

Anyways they are so dark and mysterious ... The just seem old and lovely and you feel yourself drawing closer to the screen just so you can have a better look.

I want one however I have this terrible feeling I would kill the damn thing .... me and indoor green just do not mix ... Maybe if I'm very lucky I will find fake ones I wont have to worry about sentencing one to a long slow death of over-love.

Also - I put on my big girl shoes yesterday and told the builder that I had paid alot of money for them to get my air con layouts correct and that I fully expected them to actually get the layout correct. Crossing my fingers this will be the end of that drama because I swear ... arguing with builders is just no fun!

Progress

It looks like things are moving forward which is amazingly great - so wonderful except for the fact that we still haven't sorted out the air con issue.

No one wants to take responsibility for it and to be honest .... someone has to and its not going to be me. I hate stale mates and this is one of the worst... for gods sake, I'm not asking for solid gold roof timbers, I just wanted it done as it should have been in the first place.

I am hoping to have this sorted before I go but even thinking about it is giving me a headache.... bring on Friday.

Just Too Weird

I'm sorry - I usually only post once a day however reading over the news this morning this headline just about blew my mind and I had to share

"Gordon Ramsay's dwarf porn double Percy Foster dies in badger den"

Percy Foster's 3'6" body was discovered in a badger's den in Wales.

The report says the 35-year-old was found, "deep in an underground chamber by Ministry of Agriculture experts ahead of a planned badger-gassing program." Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of suicide.
In a recent interview Foster spoke of his excitement about his growing career as Ramsay's double.

"Porn lookalikes get more money than normal actors. Dwarf lookalikes are as rare as hen's teeth and so can command top dollar.

"I've already ordered a new BMW and a diamond-encrusted Soda Stream," he said

Diamond Encrusted Soda Stream ????... Badger Den ??? ....People wanting to see a Dwarf Gordon Ramsay neked ...??? Way to weird.

Don't believe me .... check here
