Away Again

So a while ago I may have mentioned the possibility of me going over to Scotland to work ... well I am, on a short term basis anyways.

I fly out on Monday and will be gone until mid Feb ... come home for a week to check on the house etc and then back over there till the end of March.

The good news for those who like all the travel posts I do, is there will be plenty .... the bad news is that it will limit the amount I can show you of the house.

I have asked my builder to take pics but we will see just how good they really are.

So next time you hear from me will hopefully be Monday telling you I was able to stay under the baggage limit for trip for a extended period to a place so cold im afraid my toes will fall off..... am I dreaming?

Is my dog the new little black dress?

Australian's spend more money on average on their pets than on alcohol, eating out or public transport.

Apparently in 2011 pet owners forked out $780 million on pet products and accessories, including diamante collars, clothing and kitty handbags.

Obviously right on trend this year Lacey received a super cute little Christmas present from her very much adoring mother (that's me). I am obviously very luck Lacey doesn't destroy toys but this years present is much loved by my cute little girl who carries her new little "bunny" around the house, taking it to bed at night, dragging it outside to lay in the sun with her and overall just never really letting it out of her sight.

I cant believe how much pleasure i get knowing how much she love it.... awww. As for her .... All I can say is "its a tough life being a dog"

A Guest Post - Graceful Grey Walls

You meet some wonderful people while writing a blog and for the first time in Miss Vintage's Ivory tower I am lucky enough to have Jenn as a guest blogger talking about one of my all time favorite colours .... Grey.

Hello everyone! My name is Jenn and I am a writer at Arcadian Home Decor, an e-commerce website that specializes in top home decor ideas around the world. I have always been a fan of home decor and interior design, and I love wandering around antique shops, furniture stores, and little boutiques with home accessories and table decor. I also love to follow great home decor blogs like Miss Vintage's Ivory Tower, where Miss Vintage herself always inspires with her fun posts. I was so excited to find out I'd be writing here today, so thanks for having me!

A colour that never goes out of style (in both home decor as well as fashion) is grey. Sophisticated, elegant, sometimes subtle and oftentimes bold, grey can always add style to a dull space. So here are eight fabulous rooms with graceful grey walls.

Black and white Zen

Grey Walls

The graceful grey walls shown here complement the vibrant black and white bedding as well as the furniture to create a seamless look.

Grey accents

Although grey can look great on all the walls in a space, it can also be a beautiful shade on an accent wall. The two-toned grey and black couch in this living room tie everything together.

Matte slats

Grey Walls

This homeowner is obviously a big fan of bright colours, however the various grey wall surfaces tone down the overall style of the room.

The golden touch

Grey Walls

Grey looks fabulous with neutrals like white and beige, while the flecks of gold in the table decorations are a striking detail.

Rockabye baby

Grey Walls

Graceful grey walls create the perfect backdrop for a nursery, especially one decked out with this incredibly interesting bird wall art.

Good grey eats

Grey Walls

While it may not be a wall per se, the graceful grey tones of this wall of kitchen cabinets is decidedly gorgeous, especially with the awesome marble backsplash.

Two-toned grey

Grey Walls

The graceful grey walls in this dining room aren't too overwhelming when used on only half the surface space - the white is an appealing secondary colour.

Lovely grey lodge

Grey Walls

Dark grey is less daunting and more intimate in this casual living room - the nature-inspired wall decor is a great addition.

Gate Design Coming Together

So I have started working with my wonderful father in order to get the security gate started. Because we want the security system up and running straight away we need the gate installed for the intercom also done first up.

We found a design we loved and from there we are trying to get all the final plans sorted so we can start fabricating now rather than later.

This is where it is going to sit.

And this is the design we are going for.

I'm on a Role

Found another amazing product while searching design shops in London. His name is Rory Dobner (here) and he is heavenly.

He does these amazing alphabet sketches and they are so original and different I desperately want to have kids just so I can buy them for a nursery.

How amazing are these????

Oh yes - and I love this little owl all dressed up and ready to go. It has me desperately searching ebay for a pretend stuffed owl so I can do something similar????

Well im back and welcome to 2012.... I cant beleive how quickly 2011 has slipped by but looking back over my old posts makes me worry that time is slipping away from me way to quickly.

So over the next week I will regale you with Christmas Funny'ness but for today have a look at these heavenly bookcased.
