A Sneak Peak .... My flooring

I'm sorry, I vow that I will make more of an effort to blog but at the moment life is just crazy. We should be getting the keys in three weeks, I fly out on Monday and life is getting just that little bit hectic.

One of the things I have achieved is to finalise my flooring choices .... what do you think now they are all together?

If I were you, I would choose the middle flooring type (the hardwood-like one) because you can easily clean it with a mop. But if you want to go for a more formal, more office-like theme for your house, the black carpet on the right would suit you better. You will have to do a bit more extensive maintenance on the latter because dust and stains can cling on to the fabric, unlike when you use the hardwood type.

Hi Kathy - We are actually using a mix of all three - the "hard wood" you saw is actually an industrial vinyl planking. It's scratch resistant, stain proof, water doesn't affect it and it doesn't fade in the sun, perfect for a family with little kids (hopefully soon to be us) The cream coloured carpet is staircase and up and its also an industrial grade stain resistant carpet, the dark grey carpet is my little indulgence, its a shag pile for the theatre room and I cant wait to see it go in.

I got your point, Miss Vintage. The mix-and-match of those three flooring styles would work! The carpet matches the wood more especially. I suddenly feel like I want to step on that purple carpet… I’m sorry, but it’s really purple, right? The color adjustment of my monitor is somehow different, hehe.

Hi Henry

There shag is actually more of a navy blue / grey colour .... it could also be my phone - Iphones are great but it was a dark shop floor. Im glad you agree that the mixing and matching work ... its something I was slightly nervous about .... oh the joys of building

You are clearly a creative soul, given that you have the courage to mix and match flooring materials. I think you made some pretty good choices. The earthy feel of the wood will certainly complement the other flooring materials. And I also love the carpet, though I prefer the cushy ones that you can just lie down on.

Thanks Lyda - Appreciate the comment. I will say that I too love cushy carpet ... of only you could walk in my theatre room with its shag pile I swear you would be dying to lay down on the floor.
